While
it is normal to experience short-term changes in mood and feelings,
symptoms persisting longer than 1-2 months indicate medical
attention is appropriate.

or acting different. “Something’s not
quite right.” Uncharacteristic behavior or mood changes.
Emotional outbursts or extreme changes in energy level.
Feeling
sad, hopeless, and keeping your feelings inside. Feeling
that you are alone, that no one cares about your thoughts or
feelings or that you have nowhere to turn for help.
Changes
in sleep and/or eating habits. Sleeping too much/too
little. Difficulty sleeping or focusing. Gaining or losing excessive
amounts of weight.
Being
fearful or nervous often. Excessive anxiousness, worry
or unrealistic fears. Fixating on what others are thinking or
believing they are wishing you harm.
Hearing,
seeing, or feeling things that do not exist. Feeling
like your brain is playing tricks on you or someone is putting
thoughts in your head.
Declining
interest in people, activities, and self-care. Withdrawing
from friends and family.
